2008年10月份，布兰妮先行打榜单曲《Womanizer》在Hot 100单曲榜中获得冠军已经为这张备受关注的专辑打响了头炮。在小甜甜布兰妮·斯皮尔斯（Britney Spears）生日当天，她的全新专辑《Circus》在美国火爆上市了。不出所料，在上市首周，《Circus》就成为本周美国唱片市场的销量冠军，在本周Billboard 200专辑榜中轻松夺冠。据统计，《Circus》的首周销量达到50万5千张，成为Britney Spears的第五张冠军专辑。与此同时，50万5千张的销量成绩还使得Britney成为了Nielsen SoundScan统计历史上第一位四张个人专辑上市首周销量都超过50万张的歌手。从Nielsen SoundScan在1991年启用以来，除了Britney Spears以外，只有2Pac、50 Cent、Garth Brooks和Jay-Z这四位音乐人拥有三张首周销量超过50万张的专辑。
　　此前，Britney Spears第二、第三和第四张专辑首周销量都超过了50万张：2000年的《Oops! I Did It Again》首周销量达到130万，2001年的《Britney》达到74万6千张，2003年的《In the Zone》为60万9千张。在所有的女歌手中，目前只有四位比Britney Spears在美国拥有的冠军专辑数要多，她们分别是八冠王巴巴拉·史翠珊（Barbra Streisand）、七冠王麦当娜（Madonna）、并列六冠的玛丽亚·凯丽（Mariah Carey）和珍妮·杰克逊（Janet Jackson）。

　　大家或许也都忘了一点，红了十年的Britney发行这张专辑时刚满27岁。无论有些人愿不愿意承认，Britney Spears都是这个时代的巨星。而在流行音乐的发展逐渐多元化和逐渐小众化之后，Britney Spears更有可能是最后一位有如此高地位的流行巨星。专辑继续了布兰妮节奏感很强的曲风。很独特的嗓音像人们证实了不管经历了多少的起起落落，无论人们曾经怎么评价她，她还是独一无二的，无可取代的布兰妮，也许已经不是当年的小甜甜了，但是现在的布兰妮却多了一份成熟的魅力。专辑中连续的几首快节奏的歌之后，听到布兰妮细腻婉转的唱my baby，突然发现现在的布兰妮身上不仅仅是有性感的力量，还有母爱的力量。

　　2009年02月02日，本周一，R.I.A.A对外宣布，布兰妮的新专辑《Circus》被正式评定为白金唱片(销量达到一百万张)。
