Problems with this widely used thermometer include:
(a) crustal eclogites formed at <600 C contain ordered omphacite, and hence there may arise extra Na, Al effects on inferred T from KD in such rocks,
(b) resetting during cooling to lower T,
(c) in common with most FeMg-1 thermometers the inferred T (via KD) depends on the calculated or assumed amount of Fe3+.
